Singing
There are two kinds of singing opportunities (besides participating in congregational song!).
Ensemble
Our weekly worship is led by a small ensemble of singers. The ensemble rehearses midweek and singers are scheduled according to their ability to contribute to a given week’s song list and their availability. Those serving our congregation in this way possess a keen sense of pitch; are able to learn parts and rhythms well enough to sing a written line (without relying on anyone else) by either reading music or through repetition; have internet access (broadband helpful); prepare music for midweek rehearsal prior to a scheduled Sunday; are comfortable in front of people.
There are no divas in our ensemble. Absolutely no consideration is given to “whose turn it is to” or “who needs to” sing a solo. Because the worship team exists solely to serve the congregation and worship God, egos are checked at the door! Contact Vicki Taylor for more information.
Choir
On a more occasional or seasonal basis, we are able to gather a larger choir (usually in partnership with other local churches) to lead worship at concert events and during worship services. The choir meets for rehearsal for several weeks before it sings. Choir is open to anyone who is able to attend a majority of rehearsals. Music reading is not required. Contact Vicki Taylor for more information.
